are they considered raw when they've been soaking in vinegar and sour cream for hours? o3o
I'm a picky eater too..
I actually HATE sour cream.. this is the ONLY thing so far that I can eat that has sour cream in it. x"D
I wonder if it's time for me to drain the water that comes out of the cucumbers... =/
If any one is curious here's how DK makes it!
it's a 1 onion to 2 cucumber ratio (you can alter it how you please)
I normally do 4 cucumbers 2 onions. And I try to use the larges of both.
Skin 2 cucumbers then cut them into coins (or you can cut them in half then do half coins from there)
Add a light layer of salt
Cut one onion into 4 sections, then cut so you have onion strips then layer it over the cucumber coins.
Repeat with the next layer of cucumbers and onion.
Mix the bowl of cucumber and onions, adding salt if needed.
Put bowl into fridge to let the salt soak through everything and to let the cucumber juice gather at the bottom. Let sit in there for a few hours.
After a few hours, use a strainer and strain out the onion/cucumber juice. Squeeze the excess juice from the cucumbers and onions.
Add 2-3 containers of sour cream (depending on the size and how much you want).
Then add Apple Cider Vinegar. (I don't know the ratio..) Stir till the sour cream is a thick soup and has some bubbley froth. If it's too thick, add a bit more vinegar.
Place in fridge to let the cucumbers and onions soak up the flavors and to soften them. The fridge will also make the sour cream and vinegar mix thicken some too.
After its chilled, feel free to eat! Eat as is or put it on top of mashed potatoes (mom did anyway xp bleh) and enjoy!
