I suppose it's the same, why not?
I mean, we are social creatures, but we can socialize with different species as well. They are family after all!

And there have been studies that shows that pets have a good effect on depression and various mental illnesses so it's not surprising.
I miss my cats a lot. There's something about the purrs that's just very calming. (Even when they yell at you when you move just a little XD)

That's... exactly what prevents me from sleeping most of the time, lol. The whole "making up stories in my head" bit. I can't help it. Anytime my brain doesn't have something to entertain/distract it, it goes straight to story-making. :mcargh:

My cat is too annoying (read: rude) to sleep with. He hates being touched, so bites if you try to hold him. And if you leave him alone, he just goes straight under the covers and nibbles your toes.... :mcangry:

My brain goes into story-making mode just so often, not only at sleep time.
And it's inheritable!

Quite a rude cat indeed!

I now have gerbils, and I can't take those to bed :mclaugh:

Yeah I'm toasty when the cats decide to hide in my room
Way too toasty when it's summer
But when they sleep on my stomach, feels good on the period cramps I'm lucky, I get mild cramps

Wait, whoah, hold on, am I not the only one that goes into story-making brain at any time its bored or just doesn't feel like cooperating? :mcgasp: I've been putting myself to sleep by making up stories since I can remember! :mcomg: I do that every night! Omg, I'm shook. And happy af

Yeah, I'm the same.
And my son is too. He's only six, so you can hear him imagining stories and apparently most of them include some sort of explosions xD

In the winter, I can barely find a place to sleep on the bed because the cats take over all my blankets! It would be nice if when I pushed a cat because I want to roll over or because it's hot, if the cat would actually move. It's impressive how stubborn they can be.

That's a lot of trust they're putting in you, ha ha ha. We had a couple of cats who had been born as barn cats. They grew up from kittenhood knowing that if something big was looming over you, you moved. So they were never stubborn like that, if they were sleeping with you and you started moving, they'd bolt. And then complain at you loudly enough to wake you up. And stalk back in an offended fashion and sit down with the tip of their tail lashing and STARE at you to express their displeasure. And wait for you to appease them. And then finally condescend to return to sleep.
It wasn't particularly restful for any of us but they'd keep doing it....

My cats were very adept at screaming whenever they realized someone in the house was awake. They'd get in the middle of the house to maximise the possibility of someone hearing them and screamed their lungs out because they wanted food. They got food, then wanted to go outside, so went outside and five minutes later they were sleeping again.

Looks like there's a lot of us XD
If I recall properly there's even a name for it but I can't remember.

I've also found out that some people can't do it. I tried to recommend it to a kid I babysat that had trouble sleeping because he was always so restless and it seemed he would like that but he told me he couldn't.
