Funny too how Grindelwald was focused away from England, too he was interesting. A guy who doesn't care about things or doesn't take things seriously enough to think about good and bad and hurting people. I think if you have no capacity to love in you it'll be difficult for you to be compassionate or kind, of course love can screw you up and make you hate too.

That's harder, to my mind. That's an ongoing, you have to live with it forever thing, instead of one single moment that's the exception instead of the rule.

I like characters who have reasons. Who are evil from one perspective, but very good from another. they're more balanced and interesting, methinks.
One of my favourites is Lady Eboshi in Princess Mononoke. She cuts down to forest, ruins nature and kills gods, but her enlightenment ideals are a saviour from a anthropocentric perspective. She gives prostitutes a second life, she gives lepers a place to live and a job to do, and she protects her people.
What great character building!
The thing is, you can probably do things for merit and the general merit of your community without necessarily loving anyone and being compassionate. But you're generally right I think, people who have no love are more likely to be dispassionate.
The problem is the other way around.... There are those character who have too much love for someone and can do evil because of it? Sociopath with a single attachment, perhaps.

I think Sig has his earrings, so he does not get affected by the song.
When Jess told about doing evil things for love, I instantly recalled This magician from Magic Knight Rayearth that Was in love with the main villain and was doing everything for him. Mostly evil things. Also he was in love with princess of the world and was doing everything for her, which was evil too, 'cause it was causing death of their world.
Damn, now I want to watch it again...

Ahaha, is Sigsworth's nickname Sig? His first name is William :)
ml - I know of Onizuka but don't read it. Maybe I should try it if you recommend it?
Hino - That sounds... complicated.
