For me, most movies and tv shows are live adaptions of something.
The Color Purple, Fried Green Tomatoes, Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Gone with the Wind, Anne of Green Gables, The Green Mile, The Witcher, Queen of the Damned, The Vampire Lestat, Super Man, Spider-man, Batman, The Walking Dead, Garfield, Lock & Key, Shadow & Bone, Sweet Tooth. Those where all books and comics first before made into movies and tv shows.

Annie was first a poem, then a comic strip before becoming a theatrical stage musical and eventually a movie.


Then you have movies that are based off of true stories of someone's life.
Saving Private Ryan, Togo, Remember the Titans...


Most of what we watch, wasn't original content to start with and became a live action version of whatever the source material was.


I see live adaptions as no more different than a Manga or Light Novel being turned into an anime. Just another way to tell the story. Even anime sometimes butcher the original content. By the Grace of the Gods to be an example.


I'm simple minded so as long as I haven't read the books, or they stay faithful to said source materials, I end up enjoying it. =w=




I did work in the living room today! o3o I think I got pretty far with it too! Still lots to do though.. its never ending... Especially dishes... I want a dishwasher. >:x

Adaptations from book/manga to movie/anime I'm fine with, because it's a completely different media so it can be a new way to experience it.
Though I'm the kind of person who usually likes the book much better than the movie...

And anyway I usually don't like movie remakes either, even if the original one was already a live action one.
Classic movie re-shot with new famous actors? European/Asian movie re-shot with American actors?
I mean, if the original was great then let it be, don't try to make it again!

Same goes for anime that turns into live action, I feel it's completely unnecesary to me.
If the anime was good then I'll watch the anime, I don't need human flesh actors for anything xD

I'm alright with remakes, if they're done right.
Some remakes take too much liberties.

Then there are those movies that you don't know if they're going for Remake, Reboot or have it be a Sequel/Prequel to something already in existence!!! x-x


I like seeing if the studio's can pull off stuff that seems like only anime can do.
I find, Americans should just leave anime live actions alone. If they want to see a live adaption of their favorite stuff, toss the money and CGI specialists towards Japan maybe some actors too for the american/german/french/russian characters, but let Japan have all the say in script, direction, and production. >:x

=w= reminds me... when is One Piece's live action slated to air....



Speaking of remakes... Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun are getting remakes. They don't need remakes.. >:x
Ouran High School Host Club needs a remake.. adapt the full story! Like with what they did with Fruits Basket! OvO

I hate most of the Harry Potter movies. 8U I far preferred the books over the movies.

I should read the Harry Potter books.

Anime characters don't look Japanese? What do they look then?
See the clothes, and the hairstyles, etc. it's all so Japanese...
Yeah, the skin is white, but Asian skin is white-ish if you ask me.
Actually I would say that many white people are pink-ish, not really white. I know I am!

Anyway lately it seems like you must be super-inclusive or otherwise you are labeled as racist.
There is still a LOT of racism in movies, series, etc. but it's not because actors are white. It's because the only black/Asian/latino actor they hire for a whole movie is a damn stereotype.
Same as fat people. They only hire a fat person to play the "fat person" role.

Why can't the main character be a black person, or a latino person, or a fat person, without falling into the same old bad-taste jokes, huh?
I remember this series, Strarstruck. Had a nice concept.
Girl accidentaly falls in love with a popular actor. The girl was not skinny nor a classic beauty. The handsome guy was not white, I think he might be Indian or something.
Because being skinny or white would not have made a difference to the story AT ALL, they chose other kind of actors. And that felt great.

I watched a lot of anime in dub before internet got really popular since all the anime I watched was on tv. At the time, I didn’t mind it. Now I mind it a lot lol.

I read the Harry Potter books before I ever watched the movies.

I'm very picky with dubs... Only watched the dubbed version with mom.. or if someone was over that was watching anime but hates subs. But no one comes over and mom's gone so sub only now I guess.. unless its fruits basket.


I hate that every little thing is 'racist' or 'sexist' or 'homophobic' anymore.
One wrong word and you're screwed and labeled.
