That would be interesting; I think I'm the only one in my family who has the allergy too lol

Yeah like introducing allergens to children would make them less likely to be allergic to those things.

Yeah, I heard that too, same goes for exposure to pets. That's why I wanted to get a dog and a cat before I start a family. Other than I just really wanted a puppy to help me get out of bed every day and then I really wanted a cat of my own xD

Lol I see. Still pets are a lot of work so it’s probably good to start off small and work your way up. I’ve always been told that if you can’t take care of yourself, don’t try to take care of others.

Having a creature depend on me actually motivated me to get out of bed on my worst days and he's still helping me with that. And I take better care of my pets than of myself, so I guess it depends on the person. But it wasn't a decision I made lightly and on a whim, I seriously considered not adopting because of that "if you can't take care of yourself, don't take care of anything else". I think I know myself well enough to have taken that risk, because I knew neglecting a pet is the last thing I would do no matter my own wellbeing.

Same for me Mem.
Right now my house is in no condition for a pet, but the moment we have everything sorted again I know I'll seriously consider getting one again.
Having Pets was the one thing that during the darkest of my depression kept me motivated to get out and do things. :}

Well I’m glad that for some people, pets actually helped you.

They do give you the will to live, just like kids do for many people. Perhaps they just give you a purpose when you feel useless and unfit to stay alive. But when something innocent relies on you and needs you, and accepts you the way you are, it's something else. At least for me it is.
