-twitches then screams-
Turns out I didn't need any of the stuff I bought after all.
Here's what happened: (Hotarla already got the 50000 message run down over discord)
When PC issues started, I checked the cables, swapped cables out to make sure it wasn't a cable issue, so on so forth.
My main drive with the OS is a SSD. The power cables for the harddrives are too short to reach the SSD bays. They reach the HDD's but are too short for the SSD's. So I have an extension cable for the hard drive power cable so it could reach the SSD with the OS AND the Optical Drive that is even farther from the SSD bays.
Like most extension cables, one end needs to plug into a cable that is connected to the power supply. I had checked that connection a few times these past few days, it seemed connected. I assumed the issue was a corrupted OS, as stated before.
Well, turns out, the OS the system was TRYING to repair was remnants of a previous hard drives OS system that had been wiped clean and reformatted for different usage. The actual OS system's drive wasn't even being detected.
So because of that, I believed Corrupt OS and decided to reinstall windows. I got my laptop today, set that up, then connected my internal desktop drive to the laptop via USB cable set up that I bought juuust for this. Spent over 3 hours waiting for the hard drive files to copy over to an external drive.
Hooked the drive back up to the desktop, started the windows installation process and noticed that the drive I wanted wasn't showing up, but the other drive that shouldn't have windows on it, still did. I unhooked all drives but the system drive, and it didn't show up at all. No detection what so ever. Reconnected to the laptop just to check and make sure, detected and ready for use.
Well today, after a friend told me to check the cables and then recheck... I took notice that the extension cable wasn't hooked up. Turns out the cable that is attached to the power supply, the plastic connector part broke, causing the cable to look connected but was actually loose. The two cables had fully disconnected.
I used electrical tape to bridge the break, connected the two cables, then taped them together. Boom... My desktop is back, no need to reinstall anything.
Didn't need the laptop, didn't need the internal to usb drive connectors, nor the thumb drive with windows repair/install on it.
I checked the cables. Not just this week, but months ago when sebas's flailing into the tower, causing it's reboots! I didn't notice the break! wtf!!!! Dx I'm so friggen stupid!!!!
I did want a new laptop, eventually... but I wanted to wait to get it. Make sure I was safe on SSI before buying it.
I need it for power outages, and want to take it with me to dr appointments for when I have to wait forever for taxi's..
just kill me now, get it overwith. >A<

Ouch.
You can't return the laptop now, can you?

I probably could, but since I had wanted one for a while and was planning on getting it eventually, on top of the fact I managed to get it at a good price, I don't see the point.
It's more ... that I checked those cables many times through out the week, but failed to see that power wasn't going to the drive.. x-x
Heck.. I checked those cables months ago when Sebas started beating up my tower causing those reboots. Didn't see it then either! D8
Still, I wanted to wait till I was safe and secure on SSI or had managed to get a job before getting a laptop. Someone pointed out that I now had a backup on hand if the desktop does need repairs. So I do feel good about that. I won't completely break down like I did this week.
As soon as I fixed my desktop... I played a bit of pokemon (and recorded my getting the shiny charm) and then fell asleep. =w=, I was so tired.
I did manage to fix it before Digimon Survive came out. I am gonna stream that. I should make arts for it ahead of time. o3o where's my stylus for the kindlez... and sebas just laid on me. >:x i need to get up!
