@Zia: not really. you have to have a BA if you want to be recognized by any academic circles. It's the very first grade you get. You can go apply for a job with it or for the master's. It's also possible to get a job without BA, but either it will be something along the lines of washing dishes in a café, or you must have a certificate from another educational institution, not necessarily university. So BA is one of next steps a person can take after school. Well Jewish people don't necessary have Yiddish as their heritage, but even those who do don't always speak it. Especially those with families from the former ussr where it was dangerous so parents preferred not to teach their children so that they don't get in trouble. The language is indeed pretty cool, thanks to it we better see the stage if language development that many have undergone but so long ago. Yes, I love syntax but it's not the field I'm best at, unfortunately. I'm much better at phonetics/phonology, graphemics and morphology. But I find syntax and pragmatics the most interesting. And while it's clear that pragmatics is not my strong point I really didn't expect syntax to be such a problem. But it turned out to be XD what I don't like at all is semantic but our university is really fangirling over it. Im just like "ok I'll just try to avoid this as much as I can" XD
