For some reason reminds me of Zia's avatars, she used to make some very strange combos that - surprisingly - worked very well. Not so busy, not so crazy though xD

The part that I'm amused by is that no matter how I try to randomize the colors and such, it still somehow ends up somewhat cohesive

Absolutely.
It's surprising, it should clash completely but it does not. It just looks overwhelming.

Overwhelmingly chaotic, yes! And it probably remains cohesive because despite being different tones, they're often the same color range~ (i don't know my terms, shoot me)

Maybe it's because we have so many color combos that any color gets a match no matter what?

I think I have several things that don't have another option for their layer, which probably helps
Or it's like that cuz I go from first page to last tapping randomly within matching items (same tops, same undershirts) as I go and the last in line, particularly if it doesn't have a color variant, is most likely to show?

That would make sense, wouldn't it?
Everything matches because nothing stands out (there is not a lot of any specific color) but also because there several bits of each of those colors in different places...

I'm not sure I would be able to create such an avatar tbh.
