Considering the buying of 'States' Just remember that both Texas as California used to belong to Mexico. It's why so many of their towns and Cities have Latin names, plus why the majority of their populace have Spanish/Portuguese roots. :}

A very large portion of Texas and other states were originally within the state of Louisiana. Napoleon just got really drunk and sold it for a very little sum of money.
