I've never seen one that seemed very in character and yet the people writing the asks seem to take them way too seriously. It's just annoying.

And I don't like soulmate stories in general, in AUs or original fiction. It's just a concept I dislike immensely. I think it oversimplifies relationships and makes them a lot less interesting.

(I was super grumpy last night when I was ranting though sorry, ha)

I'd rather have an in-character ask blog than and OOC ask blog
but ask blogs can be pretty fun depending on who runs them I feel
I guess I can be a little picky

I really don't care for high school AUs
since I find them very repetitive/samey :I
I guess this also stems from my dislike of slice of life anime
like there's some good stuff but most of it's very samey
so I don't watch much within that genre

Unless there's some other element outside of high school
I say this as I currently have a magical swimming boys RP going on
since my friends wanted to do something both Free! and Madoka
after we marathoned said anime

Cosplay if they're good and fun. Art mostly though.

You're right on that bit though.

Yep x 50.

High school au's are usually so badly done.
And coffee shop.
THE ONE HORSE AU.

There was one where Dragon Age is an mmo and the characters were the players. It's badly written (the characters are 20+ but they act like teenage girls) I love it though. No shame.

I don't see much getting oversimplified about having a serial killer or a supervillain as a soulmate! >w<

Oh, High school AUs... I used to devour those as a teenager!
College AUs are pretty similarly bad, I think. Coffeeshop is... okay,
but Florist AUs are my true weakness. *_*

What Horse AU?

I had a lot of fun with my Gintama askblog >> I really want to start it up again but I would have to just get rid of most of the old unanswered asks since it's been like 3 years now

but yeah cosplay ones are hit or miss for me. If they really look like the characters and actually stay in character, they are cool to me.

Involves horses in some way. Horse ranch, horse competitions, horse something. And they use horse terminology that non-horse people don't understand.

Hm. I'd never considered Horse as a type of AU before...
I've seen horse stuff in fantasy AUs before, but never on it's own, actually.

Oh I know what you mean by cosplay ones now
I prefer art ones myself >_>

I didn't know horse AUs were a thing, there are a lot of AUs out there though
I can write a high school story if I want to, so I usually don't want to read them

I think I'd really love to RP something Homestuck-style
but I'm wary for RPing with people I don't know

What are coffeeshop and florist AUs?

Mundane AUs where the characters work in those places.

What fandoms are you in that you've escaped coffeeshop?
I thought those were everywhere.

I also really don't like the concept of fate or the future being set in stone or there being any kind of absolute, clear-cut right and wrong, and I think the whole concept of soulmates plays into that.
