All languages have tons of words that are borrowed from other languages. So that's not as unique and I don't think that's the sole culprit, or even the primary one. Polish has borrowed from Latin, Greek, French, German, Russian, and I think even Yiddish. Of course English in this day and age XD I'm sure I missed a lot of others that I have no clue about XD
For me the most difficult thing while learning English was all the grammatical times. Why the fuck do you need 16 of them xD Sure, in Polish we technically have 5 times, but we mostly use 3: past, present, and future. Simple.
For example, Polish grammar is difficult because more than rules we seem to have exceptions from them XD

To be clear, even people who don't have issues like dyslexia etc. still need all the editorial help they can get

Well, yeah, as long as people understand one another anything goes That's why slang is a thing Or short forms.

Plus language is ever evolving. Just pick up a book from about 20 years ago, so much has already changed in such a short time. :}

Latin is considered a spoken language in the Vatican. If you go to get money out of an ATM there, you'll be asked to press one for English. :) It's also being taught as a spoken language at Cornell by a retired papal interpreter.

Exactly. Although Polish evolves very slowly. Try reading Shakespeare, modern English speakers need a lot of translation for his works. Meanwhile Polish literature from around the same time does not require much explanation, it's still understandable for modern-day Polish speakers.

Interesting! I consider Latin to be a liturgical language more than a spoken one.

I would love to relearn Latin, I was able to speak it before my burn-out and it was among the linguistic casualties that was my mashed up brain. :}

Latin is more of a research/arts language so that's a fair observation to make. :)

If I have to be honest, I hate slang lol. XD;; I can’t understand what most slang and acronyms are these days, I have to look it up.

I have to learn it every year because I work with children. .-.
