@Zia: oh this is far from only troubling the English speakers! german has problems with the three graphemes it has for for intance, also long and short , and other things.
the topic was topicalisation of the doubled (pseudo-)infitive but it requires a lot of work one doesn't have time for during bachelor. we only have 3 months from the moment we decide on the topic. I'll see if I can take it for my master's thesis, must discuss it with our syntactics.
ah that actually sounds like the bachelor thesis here: your problem would be the "tonification" of stops with it's reasons and perspectives. at least if I had to formulate a problem out of what you say it's be identical to the formulation of phenomenon.
is there a possibility for you to record the speakers?
