Okay here you have a permit and a license and the plates stay the same because there's no fancy plates
Tho in Ohio if you get hit with a DUI you get yellow plates with red lettering instead of their normal coloration
And there's custom plates and all that jazz
And the standard one varies from state to state

Basically I think all those different plates do not make it easier. :}

Oh man, that dui plates is a great idea! They should do that everywhere. It would be super convenient.

Yeah, standard for across the country would be nice, but as far as I'm aware of, only Ohio does it
And NYS is changing from their white with blue font ones to yellow with black font

That sounds like it would be annoying. Aren't most places white with blue font?

Does it have any kind of expiration? So ten-twenty years later or something they have the normal plates again, or are they like that forever?
(One of my uncles was killed by a hit-and-run incident and the police say from the tracks they're sure the driver was under some kind of influence... cutting down on that kind of stuff is ALWAYS good.)

I've seen green font, so no
The plates "expire" when they're turned in or the color wears off
Dunno when DUI plates in Ohio expire, or if they do. I'm not a resident there

It would help if judges didn't knock down fines to parking tickets and crap to where cops just don't bother

I think that might be a local/regional thing: and I have DEFINITELY noticed that most justice systems actually do respond to community feedback if it's done in respectful/appropriate ways.
So for instance letters to a judge's office saying something about the higher rate of incidences lately, and as judges have influence on a community so could they help please? Etc.
It's effort on your part that makes a difference, though, so if you don't make the effort nothing changes and people do what THEY want instead of what you want, lol...
which also sometimes...
if the letter-writers are the lone crazies? Things can get a little nuts for a while.
*winces at memory*
Anyhow.
Moving on.
Do you think these Caravan events are good for new people because the activity draws them in? Or not so good because it scares them away?
