Okay, I rummaged up two of the items before checking back here (dummy me) but I still need the others. lol
The dress, frame, and earrings. (3,500

)
I have 1400

, but the rest would be an assortment of daycare coupons, is that okay or would you prefer more

?

Mem this is a little off-topic, but Julez mentioned you studied Hindi? Can you let me know of any good resources you found/used? My father's trying to pick it up and right now he only has Duolingo.

Oh gosh, I studied it from a textbook in Polish, and now that I'm trying to relearn the language i'm heavily relying on duo, too. I do have my textbooks, but that's not much help for your dad

I also use memrise, but that's not as reliable because there's no official Hindi course made by them. I can't think of any source in English, i guess you'd just have to find some textbooks. I'm sure you have more than we had in Polish sources. I would offer chatting with him but that might not be the best idea for him

sorry i'm so not helpful

But duo is pretty good for a start, I recommend reading the comments, they can be very informative.
What peaked his interest in Hindi of all the languages?
Edit: I forgot about the app called 50 languages, there's Hindi there and it's pretty neat if I recall. I have no idea why I don't use it anymore, I should

He might have a chance to go to India on a visit and wants to know at least some of the basics of one of the languages there (besides English).
50 languages? Okay that is definitely helpful, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for textbooks, I guess. He's a ways from being able to chat, for sure. He's still working on memorizing the characters at the moment. Sorry, letters.

Oooh, I'm so jealous! When would he be going?
It's definitely worth it to know some Hindi while in India, especially if your dad plans to visit some of the attractions. Indians do tend to rip you off with a high price when in reality the attraction is completely free of charge, etc. When you show them you can read and speak Hindi, they usually change their attitude.
I recall a story of one of my professors, she took a seat in a space for women, and some guy sat right next to her, thinking she wouldn't say anything because she's white. She called him illiterate and showed him the sign that said specifically that those seats are for women only. Other women in the bus laughed.
Yeah, that's what I thought. Are the letters difficult to him?
