It was done by a dentist, it was an upper 6, the tooth was basically dead, the filling I had done years ago just fell out one day. So it was time to get rid of the tooth, or should I say what was left of it.
Any advice? It's not a very visible swelling but I can definitely feel it, it's hard to move that side of my face. It's hot all the time but no matter how long I keep it cooled with that dental cool bag, it just stays hot and swollen. I try to eat ice cream and drink cold drinks only, but that doesn't help for long. And the ibuprofen I take for the pain just doesn't hold for long enough. Yesterday (first day after extraction) I was able to take 1 painkiller every 6 hours or so. But today it's 3 hours tops. And I hope it's just going worse today so it would be much better tomorrow. But I'm also panicking because I really don't want to go to the dentist again only to have them do another procedure or something. I have severe dental phobia, it turns out.
But they told me in case the bleeding or severe pain didn't stop after 3 days, I should go and have it checked.

Hot, I think everybody has had a dream about their teeth falling out, it's one of the most common dreams searched in dream meanings.

Go back to the DENTIST!!!!
It sounds like you have a small infection in the subtraction wound. And that does not get better on itself.
You should be taking less meds the longer it was, not more.
I've had an infection once, but the swelling was on the inside, and I didn't have any nerves that triggered pain. Only noticed it because my tongue felt misplaced. I waited so long it had to be cleaned by a dental surgeon.
Even if it is not an infection but simply your nerves getting triggered due to the removal, go to a professional. Trust me, that is what they are there for.
And for the phobia, you are allowed to take a buddy with you. Just ask somebody you trust to hold your hand or talk to you while you are there. It helps. (If I was anywhere close to you I'd offer to do it) :}

I concur, sounds like an infection, or at the very least, irritated inflammation. Definitely call and double check with them or a medical professional. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory and if it isn't helping, you might need prescribed antibiotics.

I despise the dentist too. I've had a lot of bad experiences with them and nearly got hospitalized because of malpractice.

Dreaming about teeth falling out means that you are worried about your health.
I always get them just before I get a fever. So I know what is coming. :}

Wow that’s never happened to me. Like I’ve never thought of it as a warning. It just feels realistic and creepy lol.

Today is much better, and it's the fourth day after the procedure. It still kind of hurts a bit (more like dull or pulsating pain), but it's not unbearable. It's afternoon and I only took one ibuprofen pill so far, didn't take the stronger med I got from a friend at work. The swelling is going down, slowly but it's going. I'll see how it does during the weekend. If it gets worse at any point, I'll have to go back to the dentist... But I'm hopeful. It seems that the second and third days were the worst for some reason.

My BF was holding my hand the whole time I was having had the procedure done. His hand went numb from me holding it so strongly for 40 minutes straight xD
So I'm sure he would still hold my hand if I had to go get the wound checked.
