I've read it's because it's comforting. You know how the show is going to go so you don't have to be anxious about anything new happening.

Which is likely why so many shows have the same formula. Monster of the week, murder of the week, etc
Details may change but the plot overall remains the same

lol that would be.....well there is sorta something like that. like in canada, they used to have a show called the cash cab. someone would go around in a taxi cab and ask questions to unsuspecting fare customers and they get money for all the right answers they get. XD and they keep answering questions til they get to their destination. however, 3 strikes and they get kicked to the curb lol.
I used to love cash cab! It would run in the state too and was fantastic!

I suppose you have a point about that. Like you know whats going to happen in the end, good guys win, bad guys lose. Its the similar thing with most genres, i guess.

Oh really? XD didn’t realize it was not just a canadian thing. XD

Lots of shows have different countries versions of it.

I love when shows cross into other countries because honestly some of them are fantastic. There was another show that started in Canada and then started airing in the states when I was kid called Just for Laughs. It was a prank show and as a kid I loved it.

It's fun when it's game shows and stuff but I always find it a little weird when it's like scripted shows like dramas and things like that.

I'm like, what's wrong with the original?

The original is too cruel for human consumption, perhaps. Because irl, good guys don’t always win. We get cold cases or people who get away with crimes and stuff. Scripted case fics, we know that there will eventually be a good ending. Not always ideal but better than nothing.
