Kingdom of Knuffel

A house in my neighborhood caught on fire last year because a piece of insulation somehow got into the vent and caught on fire in their fireplace.

My house was built in the early 2000s and I've already had the AC unit die on me and the furnace was starting to die, but it was fixable. And those are two things I can't live without because the Midwest is not kind in the summer or winter.

We don't have any sort of modern heating/cooling system
Well we do for heating but it doesn't work and we only used it for when we weren't home to keep the house at 65

Too hot? Open windows and turn fans on
Too cold? Stock the fire and turn fans on

Me, right there. These townhouse complexes are so old, we don’t have the modern heating/cooling systems. Like you, we do have heating and it does work but energy bills go up every time we use it because frankly, its a verrrry ineffective way to heat up the place. XD;; so we only turn on the heaters that are by the windows and near outside doorways. I have one in my room as well below the entrance/exit to the balcony but i never turn it on, i have a portable tower heater instead. XD

I would die without an AC in the summer. Even if it's not set to really cool the place, just to keep the humidity out. That's what kills me.

Of course there is always risks but it's less likely for bad things to happen. Same reason people wear seat belts and helmets.

I need AC for my health. Some people can survive without AC, but not all.

I have very little issues with the heat as long as I can wear heat appropriate clothing to combat the temperatures. Summer doesn't bother me until I have to wear professional clothing which usually consists of long pants.

My room has never had AC before. XD the only room that’s ever had AC is my parents room. The rest of the main rooms use fans.

I don't have AC in my room. We have a new one on the ground floor and an old one upstairs in the master bedroom, but my room is too far to really benefit from it. x)

And I need a fan at all times in my room, summer and winter both, because I can't sleep without it. It's both white noise and cooling (even when I need a heavy blanket, hehe). I'm addicted.
