The forums are dead? Me too. My lymph nodes hurt and I'm so busy I haven't been able to see a doctor. I hope it's nothing serious.

I don't drink alcohol frequently but I definitely eat a lot of sweets :3 Stretch out the lactic acid! I like a good burn/pain though, now I want to exercise. Are you doing high protein?

We don't have a particular class for thesis. Once you hit 4th year, you know it's thesis year where you start messaging supervisors with topics you're interested. It's literally like a job interview where you send a cover letter and your CV. You can meet up with them if they're happy to do so, discuss topics and if you don't vibe, you can move on and try another. We have a lot of academics to choose from in different fields and their work is quite specific. I slightly deviated from my mechanical engineering degree and went into biomedical engineering and optics (physics). Then again, engineering is a diverse field, I'm sure it was a lot harder to find an academic to assist you with your topic as it seems quite niche which was probably why you had one to look after the group.

mem, this sounds very similar to my subject :) Except that we do not have to defend it, luckily!
I had a different topic at first, but then changed it twice and stuck with my third choice which was a brilliant idea :3
I also took a class in Indology, I like this subject. And it's not too far from Ethnology, which is my subject :P

And Poshi, I know some people who have to go through the same process like you with the thesis. They study stuff like economics and computer stuff. They also have to apply for a spot basically and have to find sb who is interested in their ideas.
For us it's the third year. 6 semesters are the regular period one should take for the degree, but most people do 7 actually, 8 is the maximum as far as I am concerned. So I wrote my thesis in the 6th semester (which is pretty spectacular nowadays xD), most people write it in the 7th or in the break after the 7th.
