Huh, I always eat the peel, but I suppose it depends on what variety you have...
They grow here quite well, most of the time, and in winters when the leaves have dropped but the fruit is still on the trees, it looks like someone came by with beautiful orange tree ornaments and decorated the trees with them.

Persimmons grow here too. I've never eaten any. I've had plenty fall really hard on my head with no warning.

oooh, dear, the custardy soft kind that would splat and make a complete mess in your hair, or the harder kind which would bruise your head?

The super hard kind. I'm kind of glad it wasn't the soft kind. lol.
There were always super squishy ones on the ground though.

Oh! Do your local birds come eat them and get drunk and wander around in a tizzy afterwards?
Ours do and it's so funny! Fortunately they are usually STILL faster than the local cats. Mostly.

I didn't really notice. lol.
I think that they mostly ate seeds.
I moved away since then so I don't have to worry about being pelted by fruit.
Aw, poor birdies. Kitties are known to eat the birds.

Yeah, they really do...
I always love it when we have fierce warrior-birds who teach the house cats to be wary. Especially if they teach this when the cat is still young, so it doesn't realize when it's grown that it could win.
The funnies thing though is when the deer come get drunk on the fermenting apples. They stagger about on those impossibly thin legs, looking like they're trying out for a comedy modern dance troupe, and they take ages to react to your presence, so if you're sneaky you can get really close with a sketchbook before they notice.

I would love to see that. Do you have a video?

Oh! Ha ha, no, although I do sometimes try and sketch the birds. It's hard to capture movement properly when I don't even have drawing basics down, though, so that doesn't help much.
I bet if you did an internet search though you could find some drunk bird videos, which would at least show you similar things?

Omg, drunk deer sounds super adorable.
Regular birds are hard enough to draw. I bet it's a little frustrating to attempt to draw them drunk. lol.
