The comic is a horror version that is situated in the '60, the new series is based on that.

So completely different, and definitely not a continuation. :}

I've seen the first episode of it yesterday with a friend who also wanted to see it. We both thought there are many similarities with Harry Potter and Stranger Things.. But we like it.
I don't think it is super different actually.
