Yes they are. Intimately connected. (The manga are, not the anime. In the CCS anime they literally wiped out the links.)
In a way that's good because the anime is more enjoyable than the manga, so one can see the anime, read the Tsubasa manga without having it spoilt for you, then read the CCS manga to get the links.
It's confusing though because Tsubasa and xxxHOLiC are completely tangled up together and you can't read one without totally spoiling the other. They're meant to be read side by side but it's hard to figure out how to. CLAMP was releasing a bit of Tsubasa, then a bit of xxxHOLiC such that the stories were read the way they're meant to apparently.
