I hope to complete it one day, but I'm afraid the last ones are terribly hard to find...

I've been having a lot of book trouble lately. My parents are watching a television series called Poldark, and I've been watching it along sometimes, and it really piqued my interest. It wasn't hard to find the English novels - I ordered the first two just now - but I can't seem to find the Dutch translations. Which is odd, because it's quite popular in England, and there's no reason at all why it shouldn't be translated. Turns out it has been translated after all - after some digging I found out the Dutch title, the name of the translator, and even the number of pages the book is supposed to have. But I can't find it anywhere! Apart from this information there is absolutely nothing to be found. It's ridiculous! There's a mention of it on Wikipedia, but there's no actual page about it. It's like hunting a ghost book. Apart from that I really want to get it for my dad (he doesn't understand much English), it frustrates me to the teeth that I cannot find it. I've never seen anything like this... :qstr:
Can you just ask your local bookstore owner to find it for you? They're pretty good at tracking down books, they do it for a living.

I don't know what it's like where you live, but I stopped using local bookstores long ago. In my city we don't even really have the authentic type anymore - just office supply stores which also happen to sell some books. I tried a few times with foreign (read: English) books before I started to use webshops, but they just fill out the title on their computer and go "Nope, we don't have that here. Have you tried the internet?"
So that's not what they do for a living, sadly.

Oh. We have... three? Four? bookstores here, still, and if you are looking for a book they'll check if they have it in stock and then they'll ask if you want them to track it down for you, and if you say yes they'll take contact info and usually get in touch with you within 3 days with a couple of options and price quotes.

No local bookshops here either. And the closest one does the whole 'nope don't have it here are some internet addresses for you to see if they do' thing. :}

I'm not sure. They didn't close for nothing.
Still, it's all the same to me. I've been able to hunt down every book up to now, even the most obscure one. So this really bothers me... And I'm not letting go so easily :qstr:
I just don't know who to turn to for now. But I'll get my hands on it one day. :mcsleepy:

you know the title in translation and the translator but not the publisher/editor, right?
Maybe you can try a search for the translator, see if they have a business website with contact information? Then you could reach out to them directly and ask.
