She was always the family's favourite but it also came with the side-effect that she was considered the family's weakest member so she was constantly unnecessarily protected and never allowed to go anywhere alone and such. So she's basically a spoiled ninny with good connections looking for an adventure and probably getting in way over her head.

I don't know, maybe a family member of hers is the expedition's main sponsor or arm-supplier and taking her with is his condition? Or would that be too unrealistic? you can give a reason of your own that you deem more fitting, it's your roleplay after all ;P

i think if a family member was a sponsor they would do anything for her NOT to go. xD
i guess he could be desperate for people... o: and whether they die out there or not, well, that's not his business. :P
