Happy posting!

I have a question as I'm rather new here. I noticed someone posting the exact same post in multiple (over 10) topics in the "Hangouts" Section. Each one says "Hello all :)" identically and are posted in relatively 1-2 minute spacing (or less) from topic to topic. Is this spam? Or is it still legitimate as the person did technically say hello? (I won't name them in case it's legit as I don't want to make a fuss over nothing, if it's just me being ignorant of the nuances of the rule.) :qoops:

Personally, I say if you feel like it's spammy, then go ahead and report all those posts. The mods will look into it and decide for sure, but at least something will be done that way if they are rather than just doing nothing. Best not to let people get away with it. >_>

I reported someone last night for multiple postings even if others may have thought nothing of it. :qhehe:

Edit - I just reported some more. It's all rubbish so they don't deserve the rewards. :mcmeh:

Oh boy... I have to report each one then? @.@ There's more than ten... I'm seeing.... nearly the whole first page of the hangouts forum.

Edit: Ok I think I got most of them... I do hope I didn't just leave a big mess for the person who has to go through all of those. :qf:

Don't worry. I just reported the user as a whole. I saw all that stuff for myself. It's completely ridiculous. That is definitely nothing but spam.

You should have seen the chat threads. :mcmeh:

Oh! Whew, ok. :qcute: I always get a little nervous hitting the report button if I'm not sure.

Edit: Do I want to know? O.o()

I do understand the need for interaction on the site, but I don't think pop ups like some of the old events would hurt here either. ^^

There are people with different preferences and we cannot create a different type of event for everyone of them, we were struggling to have any event at all. So, yes, if this event is not to your liking, then that is unfortunate, but just the way it is. Other users might enjoy it and there might be events in the future which you enjoy, but others don't. There have been more than enough events on KOfK that did not involve any posting, so lurkers do get their share of events here. If we want to make an event for users who enjoy interacting, then there is nothing wrong with it in my eyes. These people deserve an event to their liking from time to time, just like users with other preferences.
We have just as many people complaining when we have for example pop up events. Someone is always not pleased. (And some people are never pleased)

And, actually - yes they do. The last pop up event hurt quite a lot, caused the site to massively lag for weeks, make a lot of users leave because the site was not functioning, and in the and destroyed one of our servers. Site was completely down and starkad had to perform an emergency transfer to a new server. Completing it took weeks and I am not even talking about the costs it caused. You can all read it up in past announcements.

In the future, if you report one or two of them and say that they're doing that EVERYWHERE, I for one do look through their posting history and check out any posts that look suspicious. That should cut down on the work on your part. :qsml:
