If you chose the option with the pet then all of your villagers progress would have been wiped. Hence why your storage got filled with stuff.
And yes, villager with construction needs to be active in order to repair the house. owo
I didn't read everything properly and didn't realise that you got a pet if you wiped your villagers progress :C Still don't like that we had to choose between the pet and keeping everything.

Yeah, the 2nd option with the pet wiped all progress and put everything in your inventory (but you get a cool minipet). I'm sorry I thought you had come back after that that's why I thought it was weird.

I did come back after the 7th, maybe it was just time zone difference or something that let it go through?
(I'm surprised there weren't a ton of people doing villager-swaps in exchange for pet babies. Like, "I'll take X many villagers you want to keep progress, and select the first choice, and you choose the second choice, and after you get your skilled villagers back and you give me the first offspring from your bug". That kind of thing)

Oh there have been people who did that, but don't forget every house after 10 will cost 10000 more than the previous. So it would have been very expensive. :}

I went ahead and chose to delete all my progress since I was planning on changing villages anyway and I'd have had to start at square one there, too. So, I'll just have to re-learn all the QP stuff.

It was all about the bug, to me.
Of course, now I have to find someone who'll breed bugs with me, or wait a long time until there are more of them and the price goes down.

OOoh, mine's male! I can send him to you for breeding when your female is ready, and we could split the offspring? (you could keep first one, or whatever you prefer)

Aww, perfect timing!
And definitely you should keep the first one so it has your birthday too. :D
send me a reminder the day before if you don't get a transfer, okay? I'll write it down, but my organization lately has been shot.
