I think it's been around 5 years I've been away Merry. I've been up and down due to having to deal with certain things I don't want to put out in the thread.

I'm so sorry Merry. I know our government is trying to get everybody to come back home as soon as possible. Maybe instead of calling with your airline try calling the embassy or foreign affairs (of your own country not theirs). They'll be able to give you more information. :}

Hi there Dream. Yeah, it's been five years. How you been?

The thing is, everyone is trying to reach the embassy, so that's just as hard. I did get a message from the embassy yesterday - saying I could now book flights from Marrakech and Tanger. Needless to say that's slightly irrelevant to me. The whole world is burning and as usual, there's a lack of true information. So I'm waiting until Saturday to make all the real calls - before that any information I get is not as valuable, 'cause it keeps changing, day to day, hour to hour.

The only information for now that is up to date and relevant, is that my dad's in IC now. So I can do little more than hope and wait.

The world is in desperate need of a plan C.

Hope you'll get the information you need when you call. And I'll keep my fingers crossed for your dad.

Aww shite, I can imagine that it must be horrible for you to be so far away from home while your dad is unwell.. Whatever you do, stay in Sri Lanka or go back home, I would not visit your dad! You are right, you can have a disease and not even notice it, so it's not worth risking it. But yea, probably a quarantine is what would happen to you if you go back to the Netherlands.

I am in self-quarantine btw, since Monday xD I really want to go and buy some nice groceries though :( I still have food, but still... And I ran out of alcohol xD

There's a 3-day curfew going into effect this evening until monday. I haven't been able to go to touristic places in a few days already, but now it's officially illegal to go out. Also my flights have been canceled, so I have no idea when I'll get home. So yeah, no way I'll get to visit my dad for a while. Or my mom. Or my cat, for that matter. I can only hope everyone is well by the time I finally manage to get home.

I think we spoke a few times Julez, it's good to see you again. I've in the vulnerable section of the pandemic because I'm near immunocompromised so only go out if I really need to. Yeah, I'm experiencing ups and downs of the pandemic. Within hours of a shop opening they've ran out of milk, bread, toilet paper, hand sanitiser, hand wash, most canned and frozen food.

I can't speak for Julez Merry but over here there is a three week wait for home deliveries and even then you can only order 3 of each thing.

I am sorry about that, Merry :( I guess there is not much you can do about it than staying up to date and wait until you can go home.. :(

Nope, in Germany it's not a thing yet to order groceries actually xD
There are shops who do it (REWE I think), but that's it. But restaurants are trying to save themselves with delivery services. But I don't want to order there as it's fast food (unhealthy) and expensive and bad for the environment :D

kaguya, then you have to be extra careful, indeed! That's a bummer, about the food I mean. But did shops run out of it because they have delivery issues or because people are panicking and just bought too much?

In my region it's also forbidden to go outside now from today. Unless you HAVE to work (so-called 'key persons' were designated which still may go) or grocery shopping or to a gas station or something.

Julez, people are panic buying or trying to profit from the pandemic. Some guy bought 100 packs of loo roll last week from the pound shop. Another person tried to buy 50 cans of beans in an Asda and a third person tried to buy 23 packs of pasta from Lidl.

I went onto the facebook marketplace and people are selling a pack of x4 loo rolls for £50 when it would have cost them £2 max. There are also some awful ebay scams I've found out where people are selling face masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, hand wash, loo roll and when people are buying it they are not sending it.
