I'd say it's because they're both hot but EVERYONE IN THE SHOW IS HOT.

And they haven't interacted all that much so I don't even really see the hate-romance thing that a lot of pairings have, honestly.

Like basically any non-canon pairing ever, I think a convincing fic setup could be made, but you'd really have to set it up. (I also totally disagree with the article's claim that Stiles has showed signs of being bi, btw, I have no idea what she's talking about there. Obviously that doesn't mean he isn't bi, just I don't think it's actually been hinted at onscreen at all.)
