Fairies contain items or bonuses for your villagers. They go straight into your inventory, and you have to open them to get rewards.

Guys! If you haven't done so already, go to the News post about the event and scroll down and then click on the snowbunny and the snowwolf to get one of each.
(During this event they can breed once a day, afterwards not at all, so get them early and then breed them! Of course, you only get one of each but we could do stuff like trade a bunny for a wolf so everyone has a pair and then gift offspring around)

I have a female snowbunny and a male snowfox that can breed! ovo anyone wanna help me breed some? ^-^

I have those same genders.
But! In the forums if you go to the item-trade section there is someone who is doing truly-free studding, so you can send your bunny over and get back the bunny + offspring, at least!
Mine aren't ready to breed yet. I did not notice the thing at all until today, and the female is only ready to breed tomorrow night at midnight. >.<
I'm going to change my fox into a female with a breeding potion, probably, so I can send them both to that person for studding.
