Lol, I wish I could still leave things to my mom. I'm a proper cook, but I usually make Asian (inspired) dishes, sometimes other cuisines as well, but Dutch was never really my cup of tea. It's so bland and... lifeless. And waaaay to much effort mashing the stuff for basically no flavour at all :mclaugh:
Ah well, at least I tried. I'm good for another couple of years.

On the other hand, gives us bus drivers something to do. :mclaugh:
Good luck though! Did you pass your theoratical exam yet?
I've done theoretical twice and passed twice :mcsweat:

I've started with it like 5 years ago... had to stop after a year due to work, then lockdown hit just as I found a new driving school..... big ugghh :mcdead:

Oof, so it's taking you a bit to make practical happen huh. Yeah, given all that's happened the past few years I can't blame you. I was trying to get my truck license during covid, that was a nightmare as well. Only managed to get through in March last year, it took over a year to even get a spot at a for me undesirable school... but I got it in the end, that's what matters. So will you, I'm sure. How are the lessons going so far?

I think by now its going pretty well. Still need to look faaar ahead so I can anticipate and adjust my speed. I'm a pretty defensive driver but that caused me to get feedback to not hold back other traffic :mcheh: Its just when there is a lot going on then I sometimes would just love to take it more slowly... and then the "To slow!" and "Take your time!" just don;t match anymore in my head :qhehe:

Yeah, I can see how that is confusing. But it's true that driving too slow can prove at least as dangerous as driving too fast. Insecurity is one of the most dangerous things I see as a professional driver, because it confuses other drivers, which stresses out everyone on the scene and that makes people do the craziest shit. I've seen normal, salvagable situations blow up in a second because of that! And there is a very simple solution, one that you've already mentioned. Looking far ahead and anticipating doesn't just give you the time to adjust your speed; it gives you time to think and make your decisions way before you need to act on them. That's where you take your time. One problem solves the other. Trust me, when you get the hang of looking ahead, you'll find your peace and time, and you won't feel the need to drive so slow you hold back other traffic, simply because you know what's about to happen :)
Come time, come confidence. A defensive driving style is good, but it's far from the same as an insecure driving style ;)

Stopped trying to get a drivers licence years ago due to anxiety. It is the only decision I ever made that I somewhat regret. :}

I regret stopping and not straight going for another driving school :mcsweat:

I'm just so incredibly done with expensive driving lessons that keep my tuesday evenings hostage :mcargh:

I can imagine you regret it, but it might've been a healthy one. Driving with anxiety is never a good idea for the reasons I mentioned earlier.

Yess, the bottomless pit that is lesson fees... if I think of the amount of money I put into that pink bit of plastic I die a little inside :mccry:
On the other hand, it also pays my bills, so. Let's call it even. But it's still ridiculously expensive.

It is just that sometimes I feel that if I had tackled my anxiety back then instead of just moved on it might have been treatable to a point I would be able to get a license.
But that is such a major "What If" it could be its own series. ;p
