You have to have an Animal Husbandry villager first, then you can import the pets to their stables. When the female is ready to breed you click an empty stable and select 'Breed Here'. All females have a cooldown period while males are always ready to breed. The 2 event pets are breedable every day but after the event will no longer be breedable.

Give me your user ID for FV and I'll send my male over. You keep a male offspring and I get a female. We'll keep at it until we each have a pair of our own.

Other things of note about breeding:

There's a small chance of getting a rare-color result from any breeding, but it's capped to one level above the highest-color-rarity parent. IE you breed 2 commons, you have a small chance of getting an uncommon.
You breed an uncommon and a rare, you're still most likely to get a common color, but there's a small chance of an uncommon, a smaller chance of a rare, and a miniscule chance at a super-rare color. There's only ever one offspring of a breeding, but there's always an offspring.

If you use a breeding potion to change the gender of a pet, from female -> male it will always be instantly ready to breed because the males don't have any cooldown period.
If you go from male -> female, it will have a cool-down period. Not sure if anything has changed, but last I knew it counted from the last time that pet was bred (as a male, if it ever was), and if the male had never been bred before then it counted from when it was born/found/bought. (There's no way to tell when that was before you use the potion, though.)
