I don't consider myself christian, but I like paintings of Mary. Especially with angels, like Gabriel showing in front of her to tell her about pregnancy 8) I was pretty much running from one angel painting to another.

I dont know, my aunt was in Paris few weeks ago and said they drive like crazy too, but I didn't notice anything like it. At least in part of Paris we stay in, drivers seem rather calm. people passing street freak me out much. They always walk on red light, always. We felt like biggest idiots, standing and waiting for green while everyone else walked on red.

Merry>Yeah, but only outside. we'd have to wait way too long to get inside and it's very hot here, standing on sun for 2h just to get inside is way too much for me. I want to come back to paris outside tourist season just to view some stuff without waiting so long in heat.

Ruby> very basic english and a map of biggest streets and matro stations are more then enough to move around Paris tbh.

They hate the Dutch just as much. :')
I've heard many Dutch francophiles say "France is a beautiful country. It's just a waste that it's inhabited by the French."

Oh really? We didn't have to wait at all!
But I was indeed there in November ^_^;;
How about the Sacre Coeur? It's not gothic, but from the inside it's absolutely stunning.

@Ruby: Everyone hates Americans, deal with it :mccool:
No seriously they are said to hate Brits and Germans, too and I'm not convinced that they are such hateful persons.
And I think Paris is full of tourists, you shouldn't have so much problems there. If you go somewhere to the countryside it may be different, I don't know.

We were at ... Place de la concorde I believe and crossing the street was just scaring. You never knew when the cars would come because they didn't seem to pay attention to the traffic lights at all.

Wow that sound awesome to able to travel even without knowing the language. Those painting are pretty. I always admire how skill they were back then. (saw pic in art book) The tower, food, and art sound totally amazing. I can see why you want to live there, France sound beautiful.

@Merrymaking: What did the Dutch every did to them? I know America have the sterotype of being fat, lazy, and stupid but Dutch have a good reputation.

@Cyan: Yea, we have such a bad sterotype <_< (Sadly it mostly true too)
I never been to French so I wouldn't know. I only hear it from people who went.

@Wiltherel: We have really harsh traffic law here. We even have camera on big road to charge people for breaking the law. We get fine $1,000 for littering, $300+ for using the wrong lane, and drunk driving is around $1000+ but it can be up to $10,000. So note to French people, drive safely in America.

Those are just a few things.

Merry> it is! And view from outside of it is amazing, even though we nearly died while walking all those stairs to get to it...

Personally, I have the feeling that most of crazy drivers are near center/tourist parts of Paris. People there seem bit different too. the only time when we were meeting "less nice" french was when we were meeting french tourists. Our hotel is in 13th district and even though you can meet tourists here, there are mainly Paris residents around us, since no very attractive places for tourists to visit nearby. everyone are uber nice here, random people greet us in french or english all the time . we never had problem with anyone not wanting to talk english to us, everyone are friendly and helpful Ò.ó

Yeah, those are just two things.
And then there are also the things that the outside world doesn't know.
No, Ruby. I have never heard of us having a good reputation, and frankly, we don't deserve it either. We are a greedy, selfish, cold and mean kind of people who apparently are amazingly convincing at making the rest of the world think otherwise.
Oh yes, visitors are treated grandly! But don't try to live here. >>

Hahaha I know right, Ama. Why the hell did they build it up on a bloody hill? I mean, I know it's called Montmartre and stuff, but you can perfectly well build it down at the foot of the hill, right? :')
I did think it awesome though that you can see all the way to the Notre Dame from the porch of the Sacre Coeur.

I think we have been in Montmatre but I can't really remember it. Why braiiiin you suck.

I've never heard something bad about the Dutch. The sister of a friend moved to Amsterdam and said it's great.
No, I don't believe you. Dutch people are cool. I could also start to tell what horrible people Germans are, but at least you Merry seem to like us D:
