I kind of want to get into making cosplay costumes. I already sew so it would just be learning new things about materials to make them look like armour or whatever the costume required. But I don't know if it's a very profitable business compared to how much time you have to put into it XD I guess most serious cosplayers make their own anyway, too.

It's expensive and time consuming, and as far as I know most cosplayers make costumes just for themselves and not for sale cause we're crazy like that :'D
To really set up a shop so to speak and make commissions/a living out of making and selling cosplays you need to invest a lot of time and money! You'd have to build up a reputation and such, make a lot of examples of your work to get people interested o;
You just have to be really into it as a passion and a hobby c':
I mean you could make something and then sell it after wearing it yourself to a con, but you wouldn't get back all that you've invested in it yourself first probably ;o

I wouldn't need to make a living out of it ^^ I don't with my shop already, it's just kind of pocket money. I love sewing as a hobby so it's a way to fund more things to sew basically haha. Commissions are fun but I would probably mostly make single pieces and full sets for common characters rather than relying on those. Like for example, a sailor moon suit in various sizes or jewellery items that people could just search for and buy when they need them.
I guess Firefly Path is probably a good example of the kind of stuff I would like to do. She makes up her own costumes and fairy outfits and so forth, and occasionally does commissions or non-costume stuff like wedding dresses. Though she's extremely successful and I wouldn't need to make those kinds of sales. Even one a year of her dresses would be the kind of profit I would be happy with XD
