Well that just sounds rotten Val. They should compensate you for at least the time you put into it. :}

Let's all remember that I work for a big corporate devil that continually called and asked when I would be in for my shift the day my Mom got robbed at gunpoint -- at 4 in the morning, an hour and a half away from home, and her car and cell phone were stolen. Did I mention it was Mother's Day? Because it was. And they wouldn't even let me call in for my shift.

I keep forgetting that you work for such a shitty company Val as I believe you(and everybody else for that matter) deserve better treatment.
That said how is your mother doing?

Funny story. When I was leaving for work this morning, I walked out of my room -- and when I do so, I can see the edge of the couch where she sits -- and I see a hospital bracelet on her arm. She nearly cut off her finger last night at work. She went to work before I got home yesterday at 3:30pm. She cut her finger around 9:00pm. She said she got to the hospital by 10:30pm (how much blood did she lose?!). Was finally stitched up and able to leave the hospital at 2:00am. She's the co-manager of her store, so she called the store manager -- who proceeded to tell her that it was her only day off, and she was going back to bed. So my Mom went BACK TO WORK.
I AM SO FUCKING PISSED OFF.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME MY MOM GOT HOME?
SIX AM IN THE FUCKING MORNING.
My Mom worked a DOUBLE SHIFT with her finger NEARLY CUT OFF.
It's not just a little cut. IT NEARLY FELL OFF.

SO. FREAKING. MAD RIGHT NOW.

What the Hell!!!!!!!
What kind of emotionally defected manager is that, telling her they're going back to bed after hearing your mom got injured.
Here being called in when you are told somebody got hurt and refusing to do so is ground to get fired. I swear I would have clocked that person.
Well again, I hope she will be doing better soon. :}

WTF! I would go personally beat her ass for being such an inconsiderate bitch. If that happened to someone, I would probably be (un)willingly to work for them. How can you work with an injured hand like that? I hope if she ever needs your mom to work for her your mother does the same thing back...or not, I don't know if I could be that rude. But hell, I would go in if someone nearly chopped their finger off.
I hope your mother is doing better now =]

I could be that rude. If push comes to shove I would totally be able to tell them to do themselves if they ever call me in after doing something like this.
In the end I'd still go to work, I'd just make very certain they know my positions and thoughts about them. :}

I'm hoping the District Manager calls my Mom, because the two of them are on good terms. He was there when she was robbed on Mother's Day. He also wants her to run her own store, but she doesn't want to. ANYWAY. I'm hoping he catches wind of what happened and calls Mom, because I know she'll tell him about the store manager. And then he'll come down on her like a ton of bricks. I just can't believe the whole thing happened, you know? If it had happened to her, my Mom sure as hell would have gone in to work for her.

I hope so. I just don't know how someone can be that rude. Hey, you just about chopped your finger off, cool, I'm going back to bed. Holy shit, if someone said that to me I would be like yeah man, I'll take your shift, hope everything is better.
Why won't your mom run her own store? Too much work or something? (what store does she work for?)

Bartonville Hardee's. And it's because she ultimately doesn't want to be responsible for everything. As is, yeah, she's responsible, but it'll come down on the store manager before it does her.
