You could start something, read it until the very last page, and then read that page on January 1st to count it as your first book of 2019 8D

If anyone wants more Wideacre spoilers, I am now 208 pages in.
Spoiler
It's been over a year since anyone has seen the boy, so the girl has relaxed. Her brother doesn't know anything about running the house and the land, so she's doing most of it. She and the brother started sleeping together. And it's not just sex; they say they're in love despite the fact that the brother just got married to a very nice and very pretty girl.

It's really weird, but I am loving it so far. I also have book #3, so I will have to see if I can find book #2. And I think I am going to lower my 2019 reading goal since these books are so long.

sounds fair! what are you making the last-minute-goal?

I didn't mean it as sarcasm, maybe a little, but to a larger extent, I think it could be an interesting exploration book. reminds me of an erotica where a guy offers a girl a lot of money for a night with him, the thing being she has a boyfriend and he kind of needs that money, and the guy wants both of them to sign that they have no complaints. the part with the sex itself can be or not be one's thing, but the whole situation and the actions of those characters are quite a topic to explore.

what you're spoilering from wideacre makes me think of it like that.

I can't even remember what my 2018 goal is or how many I have actually read. I think my goal was 30, and I think I'm going to end up around 23ish. So I originally set my 2019 goal to, I think, 20. But now I think I might go with 15 since these books are 600+ pages.

That sounds interesting! It kind of reminds me of Fall On Your Knees because it's so weird, and unexpected, and I love it!

222 pages in and now
Spoiler
she's pregnant with her brother's baby!

260 pages into Wideacre:
Spoiler
The girl realized she was pregnant with her brother's baby. Her first thought was to try to get rid of the baby. But then she realized it it was a boy, then he would be the firstborn son and the heir to the house and the land. Then she became convinced that it was definitely a boy. So she went crying to her brother's wife, saying she was pregnant because she was raped by some strange man. And she sort of manipulated the wife into agreeing to adopt the baby. She figured then her son would inherit everything and she'd have the fact that she was his birth mother in her back pocket in case she ever needed to use the info. But she lied and assured the wife that she knew the baby was a girl and so adopting her wouldn't short her future birth son. So they went off together, then the girl wrote home to tell everyone that the wife was pregnant and they had to stay put until after the baby was born. The baby ended up being a girl. To make it even worse for the girl, when they got home, her brother/lover wasn't interested in her. He's now more interested in his child and in his wife for "giving him" a child.
