Not so sure about the hair, you could try doing some tutorials to improve your technique. But overally though I'm not a fan of mermaids, I love that color so I think she's a very cute mermaid ^_^

i think what kyu also noticed is that it looks messy :)
try to seperate your hair into "pieces" like, for example, the wig on my knuffel avatar. and shade n highlight at the right places :)

or if that's too unclear, check some tutorials as Kyu suggested. <3

I totally forgot about the guides people, I'm sorry. I'll finish them up and then upload them for this topic.

I've tried different coloring style and I'm still not sure about this, so the question is what do you think looks better?

Perhaps remove some detail from the pants in the first stage? That way the pants in the second stage stand out more.

Also to your second post I think the first one's coloring technique looks better.

I like the softer hair then the out line one. I don't know why.

I really like Catalin 2nd stage, still now idea what she is D=
