I don't see why it wouldn't play old games... I hope it does anyway. I have quite a few old ones that I like. I haven't even browsed through all the 3DS games. xD I may want to do that.

I think there's something called the Friend Safari or something - people have mentioned being able to catch lots of cool Pokemon there.
I'm also not sure if all old games would work on the new DS, since the screen size is different (at least for XL); though they might still work? xD

They often don't let you play old games to get you to buy more new ones. Gets them more money.

The friend codes for the recent pokemon games are your 3DS friend codes. They are used for many things not just pokemon =)
We used to have a swap note feature.. but nintendo took it down due to perverts sending bad photos of themselves to kids
but for the pokemon games, the friend codes are so you can chat, battle, trade, and send O-Powers to your friends =) also, when you and your friends beat the E4 you get this special area opens up so you can catch pokemon with better battling stats and maybe stuff that is harder to get a hold of! ^-^
Luv - yes it plays the older DS games =) i played my Black and White Games and old nintendogs on the 3ds. you just can't play Gameboy Advance and older gameboy games on it

Oh cool, glad it play the old games. :3 I asked for the red regular 3DS but my bf saw the Zelda one and knew I loved Zelda so got it instead. xD

Did you see the limited Pikachu one? It was an XL too... I saw one a few months back at Wal-Mart but was too broke to buy it.

My boyfriend has an XL .. i'm not a fan of it xp my normal sized one barely fits in pockets as it is xD that think would be a bigger pain! haha
