During my junior year I stopped getting most of my required reading books because my professors barely referenced them.

When my mom taught at college, she said to not even bother with the books for her classes, she only had them because the school said she needed to have textbooks
Also gave out the tip of "wait until the first week has passed before getting the books"

I used to wait until the firs week too. If they used it for assignments, I got the book. If it was just for reference I didn't bother.

I did but it was her or the guy who self-glorified and didn't teach
Took ASL in high school for the foreign language credits. Got a B and a C, was done before 9th grade was finished

I had a college course do this last session. I bought the book, and read it all and we never used it. >::{{

i still have my large green brick of the Norton Shakespeare. xD has all the plays and sonnets. its ridiculously heavy. and the pages are like tissue paper thin lol. xD

Back when I studied we also had a long list of books to buy of which most of them had been written or at least cowritten by our professors so of course they wanted to sell us their books
But as always only some of them really got used
Seems like this is a really common thing xD
