exactly... that sounds reasonable. it takes about 20-30 min of my day at most. Not like the other ones where they expect you to sit in front of your computer for hours... -_-

Yep. And it is more tempting to start a conversation in one thread. Instead where on other sites you feel forced to go random posting in as many threads as possible. :}

Hope it's okay for me to revive this! Julianne and I were talking about wanting to practice our Japanese, and I was reminded of this thread.

Thanks for finding it Mikael! Can I start calling you that? Mikael Hart is too long ~.~

Oh, sure. Cassie (a user here) used to call me "Hart" and a lot of people call me "Mika". I don't mind if you call me Mikael. I'll call you Juli? :3

Well, can you teach me some basic Japanese you know?

I remember stuff like, "Konbanwa. Watashi wa Mikael desu. Hajimemashite. Douzo yoroshiku."

And, uh, "Genki desu ka?"

How do you ask where a certain place is? Is it like, "Shibuya doko desu ka?"

Yup yup. That basically saved my life when I was in Japan.

Whenever I'm lost I would just ask "Eki wa doko desu ka?" (where is the train) and hope that they'd respond in either simple japanese or point where it is lol.

What were some other useful lines you used?

I remember saying "sumimasen" all the time. XD

Ah yeah, sumimasen was a go to phrase. Whenever it's crowded and I'd try to pass through or when I bump into someone, I'd just say that.

It feels awkward teaching someone when I didn't get a formal instruction for this ;A;
