Mika -- I understand your point about discouraging young writers.

I usually have "fights" with my OCs, too.
Mainly because there are certain things I want to be done with them, but to them it's almost completely out of character.

Kori -- Hi.

I like reading other ppl's writing, but I don't know that I'd be particularly helpful with RP posts. Also, some of my self-criticism does rub off on my general criticism... -_-;;

I've seen that Mary-Sue quiz before I think. It's actually kind of ridiculous to worry about whether or not your character is a Mary-Sue. Many incredibly popular books and characters have special, overpowered characters. People like to read about these somewhat unbelievable characters. They're exciting.

The test linked actually has a lot of good points as far as writing and continuity. Yes, there's Mary-Sue stuff in there, but a lot of it has to do with making realistic characters.

On this test I dragged two of my MCs from my NaNoWriMo, one was like 17-21 range and the other was lower- which really surprised me. But then I try very hard to keep consistency with my characters and when I write about my characters or RP them I live in their shoes. I see what they see, feel their feelings. I can't really write if I don't get in that mindset with my characters.

+That said my RP OCs are definitely Sue-ies (I should try dragging one of them through it. I'm sure Morris would be like in the top percent). But they're so much fun and that's the point of crazy amazing characters, bwahaha~ Video games, anime and quite a few popular books are based off that fun factor.

I'm ridiculously harsh on myself when it comes to criticism, so I worry about being harsh when reviewing other people's works.

I believe, like I said before, you have to create an image of the character and then they tell you who they are.

I hope I didn't upset anyone by Posting that link.

@Kori: Aha, I feel less sleepy now, yay! But I think it's the tea.

@Poppet: This test is actually kinda amusing me. Aha, I laugh so much on the inside. Have you taken it?

@Nuke: No help needed. XD

Hmm, I got a 6 on the Mary-Sue test, which feels kinda wrong somehow; it's too low. O__o I think it's probably because Faris is so new in the game that he hasn't had the time to do much lately to earn "Sue points." XD; I'll take it again after a few weeks in RPing and see how he rates then.

@Poppet: Man, I feel you; sometimes I'm afraid of stating my opinions because even when I'm polite, I've had people get all butt-hurt over the things I say before. ^^;

I'm harsh on myself, so I guess I don't mind if other people are harsh on me either? O__o I mean, as long as they mean well and aren't straight-up bashing, then I don't think I'd mind.

Morris got a 27, he has the most amazing healing abilities in his city/country. It might be horrible, but they can bring things back to life, de-age people/animals or do the opposite- super age them, disease. For religious reasons he hasn't even explored the destructive side and he never does, since he does eventually die. He does un-age a few people in the process of healing them on accident. He doesn't notice however-it's too slight to him, but the first old women he heals notices and it's kind of brought up that he could be really dangerous- but they never inform him about it, they just watch him.

Yep, he's one of my Sues.

Thanks~ :D

I probably jipped a few things, because he was a 31 before I did the "count against points" thing... XP I don't mind that he's in Sue range. I enjoy him. X)

Faris has some pretty awesome abilities, but most of the witches (save for a few stragglers) do, so it's perfectly normal in his world. Witches also have limitations and social bias and their own sort of culture that makes a lot of things what they are or aren't. Being only 19 and fresh out of training, he's like a kid out of college --knowledgeable enough for a creditable job, but majorly lacking in experience. Older witches and wizards could probably PWN him if they have a mind to, but most of them are all about their own business and gaining their own reputations and glory. Witches and wizards in my world don't just go around on rampages because they're all big powerful baddies. They have more tact and sense than that. :X
