A friend from another thread said she tried to be tested but was told that since she's an adult, she's already developed coping skills so being diagnosed is pointless.

That. Is BS. Knowing you have it helps you understand yourself better. And helps you learn better coping skills than just masking or dissociating.

@Moi: Self-diagnosis is 100% valid. And odds are, if you suspect you may be Autistic or on the spectrum? You more than likely are.
*waves from their little Autistic corner*
Periods suck.

That's the thing, though. A lot of symptoms I have - they're also symptoms of my anxiety disorder and depression.
A big one is lack of eye contact.
People make me anxious because so many have been mean to me in my life. So I don't like talking to them, let alone looking in their eyes while talking to them.
I'm also a shut-in with limited physical contact with people so I'm not very good at talking to them even if I wanted to.
My sister and I got ours on the same day.
We don't usually do that but Bu

A lot of those can be comorbidities with Autism. I've also got a depression and anxiety diagnosis. Eye contact, especially prolonged, is uncomfortable as fuck.

I've learned to look people right in the eye, and then go out of focus on the days I can't hack eye contact. Also, when friends come up to a comfortable distance to talk to me, I often can't even see them! Especially after the guys upstairs in the market have been banging the powwow drum loudly enough to make my senses scatter into static.
