If we run out of an elemental knuffel early, do we actually *get* a new one early, though? Or do we just have to wait, without a generational knuffel of that element, until the timing is better?

I think Firn usually tries to get a new one done when she notices one is going to run out soon, but sometimes it ends up running out faster than she expected or the timing is just bad and she is busy.
But I believe when the run-out dates were introduced it was just as a means to make sure that no Knuffel would just stay for ages because too few people were buying it or something, not to replace the old "there's a new one when the old one is all bought up" system.

Yes, I usually like the earth ones. And the fire ones and the dark ones, and often the... well, I usually like all of them, but particularly the earth ones.
