I could live off of soup.
Soup and yogurt.
And pizza.

I would probably die if that was the case for me.

Probably also a reason why I could never be a vegan. I have been a vegetarian for years in the past, no big problem - But living without cheese? Sorry, I am afraid I love cheese more than I love cows.

Milk wouldn't be a big problem, since there are really a lot of good substitutes for it. I love coconut milk for example and almond milk is nice too (not fond of soy milk and rice milk though) and I only ever use milk for baking and then you don't notice so much of a difference. But cheese substitute is different - I tried Cheese analogue for pizza and I guess it was kind of alright, but just nothing like the real thing.
But I have read that they are pretty far on working on a "real milk", basically with real milk proteins, that comes from the lab and involves no cows, but it still tastes like proper milk. Apparently it's even healthier and they said the production costs would be rather low, so that it would not be more expensive than real milk. And of course you can make cheese from it. That would be awesome.

I am looking forward to this, though I have my doubts it will be sold for the same amount as regular cheese and milk, because the industry just loooves to charge double for everything that is labeled "vegan" or "vegetarian". Just like with Cheese analogue - years ago people were complaining that some pizza brands wouldn't put proper cheese on their products, but Cheese analogue instead, because it was cheeper. Now you can buy Cheese analogue as "vegan cheese" but it costs double as much as real cheese - even though apparently it's much cheaper to make...

I'm sort of allergic to milk. But I drink low fat one of it. Unknown if it's lactose issue or not.
I wouldn't mind trying a 'real milk' like you described. Only cause I don't like the other subs.
ugh vegans.......I like them to a point (I have a lot of vegan friends though, I overlook their vegan-ness bit of them and what not). I couldn't be vegan or vegetarian. I guess I put it in that too hard basket besides that I'm picky with food.
