To have less carbs I guess? that's the only thing I can think of. For those who want to lose weight, etc.
I don't know what it's health benefits are though compared to rice.
I'll stick to my rice. Tastes better imo.

Oh, is rice bad with carbs? I still think rice is one of the healthy foods out there XD
I've never even seen quinoa here in Poland. Maybe in some "organic/vegan/healthy" crap stores, but I don't even go there

To some people it is, those fitness fanatics....you know the ones who really really love to work out and eat 'super foods'.

my sister being sort of one of them.
I shall not ever substitute it unless I have potato. Then I'll just use potato..
I still consider it a fairly healthy food too. But I guess people see it like potatoes and some other foods.

I think quinoa has just similar carbs than rice though? Rise around 70g and quinoa around 60g. I know, because my husband is currently doing the silly"no carb after 6pm diet"...
The only carb free substitute for rice is "rice" out of konjac, but apparently it tastes like nothing and, again, is ridiculously expensive.
I don't consider rice to be very healthy, unless it's whole-grain rice, but that doesn't taste good - and I usually like whole-grain products like whole-grain bread or noodles a lot. Just whole-grain doesn't work for me at all.
But I was never very fond of rice anyway. Never really ate it till I met my husband, and obviously, since he is Japanese, he eats rice daily.

Well that's just....ducked. The whole not much difference in carbs.
Also that no carb after 6pm, I don't get those kind of 'diet's.
I'll stick to regular white either basmati or jasmine rice and brown rice...

Sweet lord, maybe it's just better to not eat anything and stab yourself with a spoon ;>_> I mean seriously, everything is so commercial, even if you want to change anything in your life (like diet) you have to make super duper good money to even afford that. It's mean, you want to control your own life, but you can't 'cause somebody else controls it for you
I like rice a lot, rather rice than potatoes

*is a non-Polish Pole, apparently* It's not as heavy on the stomach.
Ooh, jasmine or basmati rice, yum!

Me neither, since I don't really believe that it would make a difference to the body whether you eat something at 5pm or 7pm, but, oh well, whatever he wants. It does have some aspects that work in favor of a diet though - Like, usually we would eat some small dessert after dinner, but unless you eat something like plain yoghurt, pretty much all dessert types contain carbs, so he doesn't eat any dessert anymore.
memoriam: Yeah it's no matter what kind of diet you eat - diet to lose weight, vegetarien, vegan - It always seems to be crazy expensive. But not just that, but eating healthy in general. Ever since he started his no carb past 6PM diet, our foot bills have exploded, because all you can really eat is vegetables and meat and that is obviously more expensive than pasta, rice or potatoes, which normally would be a big portion of a meal.

I feel like we are spending double as much money on food than before.

Just vegetables and meat!?

But that's only half of a balanced diet! Avoiding carbs won't help much

How do you even... I can't imagine living like that, sorry "orz Besides I'd explode from eating so much meat, it's usually heavy for the stomach, right?

I'm trying to cut down on the take away after this mcdonalds monopoly thing finishes soonish. I hope it finishes soonish.
Yeah I think that's why I don't cook much, the shopping bill. =/
That said we bought a bunch of mince, and turkey mince and chicken strips today.. so I'll have to do something with them this week/next week. They're in the freezer though so all good.
I like this jasmati rice we have. It's like both? Tastes same to me really tbh. Only different rice I've ever had is brown or the rice on sushi.
I like mash potato the most. Then potato bake.
Speaking of rice I had a bowl of it with soy sauce, teriyaki sauce and hoisin sauce. It tasted good.

McDonald's monopoly? what do you mean?
I think it's still cheaper to buy stuff and cook it yourself than order food. I've been ordering too much food lately, but also can't avoid it, because we're both hungry after work (even though I eat soup and ash eats a whole dinner during work) so because we didn't buy any food for the week, we go out or order x.x
I think I feel the most difference with jasmine rice. Never seen jasmati here
