I completely understand your reasoning, and I had guessed it was something like that. I just wanted to confirm that this was the case and I wasn't just too blind to see the vote :)
I have to admit that I have been one to complain about the colour choice you made for a few items in the past as well

Of course, you can never make everyone happy and you should do what you think is best.
There are two aspects to the voting threads that I will miss though, that have nothing to do with the actual voting:
First, noticing that the item has been updated at all. I was actually waiting for the wind fairy wings to be remade, since they were quite difficult to use (although pretty!) due to their colour. I noticed it today because I was looking through my wardrobe to see if I had things I could list for sale,
because those extensions are just too pretty, but I have no idea how long they've been like this or when I might have noticed if not for my sudden FC cravings.
Second, I always really liked seeing the comparison between old and new item, it being interesting in the same way that the NPC art you posted a few pages ago is interesting - just to see how your style has evolved and your art has improved. I think it's nice that in the vote thread we kind of have a record of all these items and their improvements. Seeing the comparison also often made me realize that the new version is actually better (because e.g. the perspective is better) even if I dislike that it fits with other colours than I used it with previously. If I can't see the old version anywhere I just have this fond memory that might not be realistic at all.
So, if I may (and just ignore me if you don't want to deal with it, I won't be mad) make a suggestion: You could have a locked thread (or just the old voting merged thread) and just post the comparison of old and new item kind of as a "this item has been updated" message. I understand if you are worried that people might then go ahead and make threads to complain about the items again... I don't know how likely that is (or how much less likely it is with the silent updates, seeing that I myself feel a bigger need to talk about them just because people might not notice and I want to show them the shiny new thing I found), so I don't really know if it's a good idea, but I would personally love to see it.
