Yeah, I love fantasy, but I am more a fan of the classical dragons, mages and unicorns fantasy. I am generally not fond of stories that play in the past, like the 30s, 40s, 50s and so on. No matter whether they have a Fantasy aspect to them. It reminds me to much of historical romans, which is probably my least favorite genre, apart from horror.

My dad has always loved dragons and wizards and all that.
I had a lot of mermaid and unicorn stuff when I was growing up.
To this day, my dad still loves wizards and especially dragons.
I've actually read up on mythology and folklore from different countries.
The most interesting ones would be around Ireland and Scotland.
My favorite, no surprise, is horror xD
My least favorite would be romance.
I just can't sit through those.

I can't read or watch horror. I am such a wimp, it scares me too much and I will walk around frightened for weeks. Even if I know there is a scary scene coming up in a non-horror TV-show or movie, I will not watch and tell my husband to tell me what is happening. I just can't look at it.
I also don't like romance, with the sole expection of male-male romance for whatever reason. I think most of this comes from me not liking books with female main characters so much. Having both protagonists in a romance book being male solves the problem. Unless one of the guys in the book acts too cliché-womanly, which happens sometimes.

Lool, I can't watch horrors either, I get nightmares, or insomnia or stuff like that. Bf isn't a fan of horror himself, so we just solve the problem by not watching them xD
I hate those kind of romance books wth the female protagonist and like 5 males interested in her. And that's every second book that's been written by a woman. I mean, come on, that never happens unless she's like a supermodel or something x.x Even 2 guys wanting that one girl is sometimes weird enough. It just gets so old. And it's even worse if she can't make her effing mind about the guys. "She likes all of them and can't decide", get a grip on yourself girl x.x
I'm unfamiliar with the gay romance tho

Horror movies just bore me, get me mad and disgusted, or leave me wondering what was supposed to be scary. Having had a rough life that involved butchering your own meat has its uses, I guess. Romance makes me ill, for the most part, though some of the stories I write will have couples who've been together for years, or who are just deciding to be together. My "mush" generally leaves my friends laughing their afts off, though, because I will NOT write it seriously. I am a grade one-er in the body of a forty year old woman.
I generally write what I've heard called "space opera", but among my varied round of aliens are things like unicorns (little purple fuzzy biped people) and centaur-like races (more deer-like than horse, no antlers)! Oh, and mock turtles (a race related to the unicorns). Since it's a truth that most of the time people write what they like to read, I guess that's the kind of stuff I like to read. LOL

Firn: yep me either, I get really bad dreams when i watch horror movies/shows.
The most I can handle is like the walking dead, but still I get weird dreams from those. I dreamt i was eating someone & when i woke up I remember how it tasted. ewww
Tam I am: Yeah they always seem kinda ill witted on horror shoes and it's annoying! I wish that stopped me from having bad dreams about shows like that but i can't help it. lol

Yes! THIS exactly, so much! Gosh, why is every second romance book having this scenario and why are female charachters always behaving so incredibly dumb!? I never bought the "two guys into random girl, girl can't decide between guys"-scenario. Like, seriously, if it's so hard to decide, no matter whom she ends up with, I don't buy it. I just don't like the presentation of many female characters in books, movies and games. Especially not the damsel in distress women, who can't even seem to function without a guy. I also don't exactly like the opposite "cold bitch" presentation of female characters (For example, I disliked Lighting from the Final Fantasy XIII seris so much, it basically ruined the whole game(s) for me), but there must be something more reasonable inbetween? Of course there are likable female characters too, but to me it's always the minority.

Firn, I never knew you had a thing for BL! XD But I feel like a lot of folks can relate to being frustrated about female characters; too often it feels like they're being misrepresented, are sending the wrong message, or are written up to be ridiculously unrealistic.
I used to think that I disliked romance stuff because of how irritated I would get with the scenarios often presented in them (especially chick-flicks and shoujo anime/manga), but then I realized it was just because their portrayal of women and romance were too shallow.
I actually really enjoy Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (manga, not anime; you can't really translate 4-koma jokes as well in anime), despite it being a shoujo. There is some romance to it, but most of it reads as humorous, and the characters (male and female) are all generally likable and relatable to some degree. It's something light-hearted to enjoy, and I've honestly chuckled over quite a few of their chapters and scenarios.
Horror, on the other hand, is something that I find too disturbing and unpleasant. I don't even like most suspense because of the level of paranoia I develop.

Fun fact: I ghostwrite gay romance for Amazon Kindle sellers 8D All of it is so, so bad. Even though I'm able to track down my titles I never tell anyone which they are because I don't want to own up to it, I'm a much better writer than they want me to be

I like BL too. -fans self-
I don't like horror either. :( I guess the closest to gory stuff I get to it is enjoying crime shows. Some can be brutal.
