The gathered heat from the layers, as well as the corsets, was probably why women fainted so much back then. I mean, they had separate fainting rooms for the occasions.
What sort of stories did you grow up with instead, Poshi? owo
My mom and dad used to tell me stories when I was small, but I've forgotten them now. XD; Now I just have vague memories of this or that character.

Oh, I forgot about the corsets and the fainting.
That would SUCK xD
My dad used to tell me "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" every night.
I don't know why I liked it so much.
I mean, he did different voices and acted it out, so maybe that's why xD
I took a book from the library, and it was in the kids section, that was pretty gruesome.
I recently asked my dad if he remembered it.
Me: Dad, do you remember -explains plot- u8?
Dad: I read THAT to you O_o!?
Me: Yup. I asked you to read it every night u8
Dad: ....No wonder you're so screwed up 8U
My dad used to tell me about dragons and wizards and faeries and Native American folklore and beliefs when I was a kid.
I made the mistake of sharing one Native American thing with the kids in my class.
They laughed and made fun of my dad. And it pissed me off.
Looking back, they made fun of my dad AND our Native American heritage.
I know they were just kids and kids do those things BUT HOW DARE YOU MOCK MY DADDY UB< /spikedbat

Yep!
@Firn: It might not be your genre, but Tori and I are gonna start reading "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman together for the KofK bookclub.
We'll be doing one chapter a week, but we haven't picked a starting date yet. Would you be interested in joining us?

I already read that one years ago.

But thanks for letting me know.

Yes, please do this. Have fun with American Gods!
It's not one of my most favorite Neil Geilman books, but I enjoyed his Terry Pratchett collaboration and most of all his book Stardust. That's probably my favorite.

Aha, we will!
Oh, fun; we were just talking about both those authors today, but I didn't know that they had collaborated works. If you have any you would like to read with the group, maybe you can recommend it to us then. :3

Yes, they did, it's called Good Omens. But it has been so long that I read it, that I hardly remember what it was about. I just remember that I liked it, because that was what made me read other Geilman books.
I've read every single Book by Terry Prattchet expect maybe 4 or 5?

I have his last book, The Shepherd's Crown, still here, waiting to be read, so that would be one I could suggest. But I think it's Tiffany Aching-book, so it's rather for a younger audience? I have to look up which ones of his other books I am still missing. We have probably over 60 Terry Prettchet books here, so it's hard to keep track.

Oh, I've heard of that! It's really popular but I don't know much about it. I think there were angels? An angel?
Oh, sure, that sounds good. I don't mind if it's for teens or preteens; even if it's intended for a younger audience, a good author can write in a way that most people can appreciate or enjoy.

The old fashioned gowns were hot. Fine French ladies of Marie Antoinette's time smelt bad.

Yuuuup.
