I did the tree thing but instead of waiting for someone to come help me, I just... fell out XD I hurt myself and my mum made my dad chop the tree down. True story 8D

Ohmygosh, why blame the tree for a child's fall?

Legit have never climbed a tree in my entire life. Then again, when I was a kid I had to be basically forced to go outside. Though, that still kind of holds true...
Lots of "kid" things I've never done. Like I've never learned to ride a bike either. Though I think that's sort of common never to have done these days? Ish.

Swings I can't do. Inner ear issues. I'm in my forties, and can't ride a bike. But I've spent whole days in trees, back when I wore pants.
jacobgrey wrote:Heights are okay for me, it's the drop I don't like. I hate it when you can see how high up you are and realise you could fall all that way. Like glass floors, or metal grates, or old wooden floorboards that have gaps in.
All those things, I'm not fond of, because of my skirt wearing habit. Though if it's just a glass floor with animal bones under, or animal models, I can do that. Or if it's those glass floors on the Calgary Tower. I went on that and sang about London and France while my brother fussed and worried about me because he was afraid of the floors at that height because he'd read of some dope managing to break a similar one and fall through.

I don't like those either because I hate the sensation of walking over something I can see. It makes me realise how flimsy the lines are between up here and down there.
I think she made him do it so I wouldn't be able to get up there again XD He taught me how to climb it but I don't think he anticipated that I would then go and do it on my own without supervision lol.

I'd still just tell my kid to not climb the tree again tho. And it they would... well, ground them? XD idk. But I'd feel bad for cutting a tree. I mean I get why she asked for that, but still.

I'll be totally honest, if she asked me to stop, I would have climbed it again 8D That's the kind of kid I was.

I remember a young brother about sixteen foot up a slender tree in the yard, laughing at my mom as she yelled at him to come down and freaked because she was too big to climb that tree. Mom finally turned and walked to the house, yelling that she was getting the chainsaw. As soon as she was gone, the little brother climbed down and ran off laughing.

Well, kids are like that in general, so I am not surprised XD But I hope to be the kind of parent that would let their child make a mistake (and fall off that tree, even if that meant hospital trip, lol, of course I'd try to have an eye on my kids still, but they -children in general- are unpredictable anyways, so

). But I am afraid my nature will get the better of me and I'll be the mother hen, always scared for the life of her kids and staring at them to check if they breathe properly

Memorium, do you know how to get over most of that worry? It's a little hard to do, but what you do is wear them in a baby carrier when they're tiny. It reassures both the baby and the mom.
