Well... Gimp is free XD
You can't really compare it to programs that run $100 a pop or more. I think it's a lot easier to learn as a starter program though.

I'm at that stage already! My old laptop died probably 3 or more years ago now, and that had Photoshop on it but I had used a friend's extra code to activate it. Naughty, but that's all an art student can afford for sure XD Then since I didn't have a copy of the original code I could no longer activate it on my new laptop and had to subscribe. Here it's £10 a month for the Photoshop and Lightroom package so I'm already probably over £360 already.
But, as much as I can complain, it's necessary for me lol. Without it and all my one-click actions I don't know what I would do.

But £10 for Photoshop and Lightroom sounds like a good deal to me! Here Lighroom alone is 11,89 € a month. That's £10.45! Why are prices so different in different countries? And why does Germany always seem like the most expensive?!

It's the same for Lightroom here but they have a deal where you can get them both together for cheaper. It's called the photographer's package or something like that. I have no idea why, I thought it would be the same worldwide, maybe there is some kind of tax added in Germany?

I know you have special deals here when you take both too, but they aren't cheaper or equal to just taking one. Just cheaper than both combined.
I don't know. I get the feeling that really everything is more expensive in germany. i buy my books from the US and my video games and DVDs from the Uk, because they are so much chaeper there. I also know that electronics like for example the Playstation are much chepaer in the US, but it's not worh importing it because you would have to pay so much tax here (and because we have different region codes). My tablet was also bought in japan because it was around 100$ chaper there than in Germany. I seem to live in the wrong country.

Also the best "anti-virus" you can get is Ublock, which is a browser add on. Free, super simple, easy to turn on and off and blocks 99% of crap the internet tries to throw at you.
Isn't this just an ad blocker though? Sorry to bring up the old topic again. And I'm a bit gunshy about being without anti-virus, because I've had some kickers.
Firn, yes. That killed them. My computer fixing friend told me when he brought me a new second hand computer to use after the first time. I guess especially it can happen when one uses second hand computers of low brain capacity. This new one seems to do better, even though it's just the cheapest PC that was in the shop.

I haven't had an anti-virus program for about 10 years. I feel like I must be magic or something. I know I should probably have had a virus by now, at least statistically, but I've been cool. I run Malwarebytes every six months or so to check but it never finds anything that needs fixing. I must just have really sensible browsing habits.

Your pc might have windows defender on it though..
Which is still virus protection.
That said I have it and avast and malwarbytes installed on mine. Though for some reason lately malwarebytes thinks google chrome is a issue.

Tam I am, Lady River mentioned some good ones.
Ublock blocks things people might otherwise click on, and noscript blocks harmful scripts from accessing your browser computer etc.
