A friend asked me if I could translate something for them, and I was all "Yea sure I can try" thinking it would be Japanese..

They hand me screenshots of a chinese game and I'm all..

"QAQ this is chinese..."

"yea, you can translate it right?"

"No.. I can sorta read and translate Japanese"

"Same thing.."

"... NO!!! QAQ~!!!"

I saw one character that I recognized but haven't fully remembered yet and it was.. Fang i think.. o3o

I been reading the Japanese manga Kamitachi ni Hirowareta Otoko since I'm too impatient waiting for the English version By the Grace of the Gods to be released (november too far away...) ((^KamiHiro for short, also the anime I'm waiting for x'D))
I saw that the first Japanese Light Novel volume was being given out for free digitally (probably due to the Corona Virus) I nabbed it despite having vol 1 and 2 in english (digital.. >w> physical copies start coming out in Nov. too...)

I figured, since I was doing so well with the manga (damn it DK.. it has furigana, of course your doing well!! Dx) I'd try the light novel.... haha... no furigana so it's gonna take me longer to read it.. =w=

pfttttttt chinese has a lot more "kanji" and there's a whole lotta more strokes. on top of that, the more strokes a character has in the traditional chinese, the more likely there's a simplified version so you have to remember THAT as well. XD i can't read simplified chinese to save my life. can't really read traditional either, to be honest. XD i'm only average when it comes to speaking pft. as long as i understand people when they're talking to me, i'm good. xD

yuuuuuuuuup. tell them, chinese is separated into traditional and simplified chinese, that there's more strokes in traditional and even knowing the simplified versions doesn't necessary mean you know the traditional as well....and from what i know, japanese use the more traditional kanji, i don't know if they use the simplified forms.

for ex.
dragon in traditional: 龍
dragon in simplified: 龙

well i've also seen the Japanese use the traditional chinese character for dragon too. but YEAH, you can see what i mean, they look so different lol.

and people just go 'they're all the same!' >A< no they aren'ts!!!

nope, they aren't. and i think japanese looks even harder since there's so many...-anas? -jis? XD hiragana, katakana, kanji, romaji (which, iunno, does that one count haha?)
