I agree, I loved the long weekends when I was a student, still love them now.
It also helps that most teachers here try to not give much homework on long weekends either so students can have ample time to relax!

That's what all weekends - short or large - should be for.
I don't like homework either.

i work part time, having 3 days off instead of the usual 2 day weekends, and i see it as a long weekend. just imagining having to work full time gives me chills. i'll have no time for anything, how do you guys do it

You get used to it.

Oh, I remember working half time when my son was born.
And I thought it would be so hard working full time again.
But actually it was not...

Giving homework means marking homework... marking homework is sad QAQ

I really appreciate long weekends right now because it's the only way I get a weekend XD Since I tutor, the weekends are when I work the most... and then I also work all afternoon/evening on weekdays... So long weekends are the only times I get to really go out and play :mcheh:

amura: oh good to know it wasn't as hard of a transition! i just know i'll miss my part time days though haha

i think it's hilarious when teachers give back graded papers and there's just coffee stains or foods/crumbs. they're working hard even while eating

In middle school I had a chemistry teacher who was taking classes for another degree.
She'd post her own homework up on the board the last day of the week, before she turned it in.
And it was a standing extra credit project thing, see.
Anyone who wanted could copy down the teacher's homework, and take it home, and try to figure it out and mark it.
And then on the last day of the NEXT week, you could turn it in to her (and copy down her latest if you wanted), and she'd compare it to the marked homework that she got back from HER teacher.
And if you matched up -like if she got three problems wrong and you found all three just like her professor also spotted-
Then you got extra credit: You could choose to "spend" it by replacing one project/test grade you previously did with the maximum, or you could "spend" it by choosing to receive slightly-better-than-average (but not maximum) marks on some upcoming project or test, without having to do it. You could just be excused and do whatever else, instead.

And if you got 5 weeks' worth correct, she gave you an automatic pass and let you move up to the next year's science course early.

Anyhow it was the first time most of us students realized that teachers had to do homework too. Being selfish little monsters, it hadn't occurred to us that if we had to work to do it, they had to work to grade it... until she blew our minds by asking us to do some grading of HER work like that! Ha ha ha ha

Whoa, what kind of courses was your teacher taking that you guys could grade her work? Did anyone actually catch all her mistakes? :O

Yup that's us! :D
Almost every summer there's a week or so where the sky is super muggy and weird cuz of the forest fires.
Also, it rains for half the year.

Though, as someone who had lived in Alberta for years before moving here, I am having a hard time deciding which is worse: spending most the year in snow or rain...
